"A tactile coloring or painting experience, ColorSENSEation features eight custom coloring subjects by San Francisco artist Debi Harrison. These are not just pictures to color….they are printed on heavy paper with dark, deeply embossed lines. These pictures are perfect for visually impaired individuals learning shapes and outlines. Each picture is titled in English with the title in Braille blind embossed underneath.
The heavily embossed lines of the drawings are easily followed with the fingers and facilitate using a crayon or paint brush. Ideal for children with visual impairments or motor skill challenges, ColorSENSEation levels the playing field for children with disabilities. Dawn Smiddy, an instructor at Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind, points out that "Color is a concept. We associate color with memories and senses other than just sight. This is why the concept of color is not perceived the same from person to person.
