Embracing A New Year & A New Decade

Here we are embarking not only on a new year but also a new decade. The first decade of the 21st century packed one wallop after another, bringing out the worst and the best in us, challenging us to overcome despair, to be our best, reach out to others and lend a hand. While we cannot foretell the future, we can count on challenges and opportunities ahead. Some we brought with us; others will be new. Sometimes we will feel confident of our ability to persevere; other times we will need all the help we can get. Such is life.

Let’s celebrate the best of the year and the decade past and look to the future with enthusiasm and optimism. That way we’ll know we’re doing all we can to insure that the present is the best it can be.

We cannot control our future but we can control how we respond to whatever occurs, be it awesome or devastating. None of us is perfect, and that’s a fact. We need to accept our humanity, let go of perfectionism, and simply be our best. That’s the best we can do and all anyone can ask.
