December Already?

WOW!

December ? Already? I don't know about you, but I have no idea how we got here. Wasn't yesterday Thanksgiving? And the day before that was Halloween, wasn't it? Maybe not but that's how we often feel this time of year.

Once the autumnal equinox signals the transition to more hours of darkness than light, time seems to accelerate. Scientifically, of course, a minute is a minute and an hour is an hour whatever the date, yet that’s not how we feel as we rush to prepare for the holidays. What's important to remember are the reasons we celebrate, and whatever beliefs we have, family and friends are essential elements. Our suggestion is to "cut to the core," decide what's most important and gives the most joy to you and those you hold dearest, and let the rest go. Easier said than done, but worth the effort.

We've been collecting recipes for family friendly holiday activities, and we're posting these on our blog every Monday . We welcome your comments and invite your participation. Peg Ackerman at Pacific Oaks Children's School shared her recipe for delicious and, she assures us, easy ginger crisp "place cookies" for the holiday table. To learn more, read our posting for Monday, 29 November 2010.

We wish you joy and peace and fond memories galore this holiday season.
