Celebrating Child Life

Life is filled with challenges for parents and children and never more than when families experience a life threatening illness or injury, the death of a loved one or a trauma. These experiences can easily overwhelm everyone involved. At such times, child life services can ease the stress and empower children and their families to cope effectively with these challenges.

March is Child Life Month, and the American Academy of Pediatrics affirms that child life is "an essential component of quality pediatric health care." We concur and want you to know about the supportive and empowering services provided by child life specialists.

Throughout the month of March, we will be sharing information from Child Life Council on the who, what, when, where, and why of this invaluable profession. To learn more, visit our blog at www.playworks.net. You will find the link at the top of our home page. Then, if you are a child life professional or someone who has experienced and benefitted from their work, share your insights. We’d be delighted to hear from you.
